Spotlight on our parish associate- Zealous for the mission, speaks several languages, rolls up his sleeves to work, a bright mind and a gentle priest.
I am Advocate Fr. Nitesh Gomez. I belong to the Diocese of Quilon, Kerala, India. My parents are Mr. Plato Gomez and Mrs. Treesa Plato. My father is a retired builder and my mother is a housewife. I have two siblings, the eldest one is a teacher and then a brother elder to me. I joined the seminary when I was 15 years old and was ordained in 2011. I have completed degrees in Philosophy and Theology (B. Ph and B. Th) then I did my MBA from Kamaraj University. I have done my law degree from Karnataka State Law University and enrolled at Kerala High Court. I am a practising lawyer.
As soon as I was ordained I was appointed at Ashtamudi, St Elizabeth’s Church as assistant parish priest and immediately after two months, I was appointed as the warden of our engineering college in the diocese along with the assignment of assistant parish priest at Bharatharajni Church. Later I worked as parish priest in other churches, as well, until I was sent, for my studies at Bangalore. I was also given additional charges like director of the Charismatic Renewal and Jesus Youth Movement. Thus, I have an experience of almost 12 years in the priesthood and 21 years in my vocation.
I wished to do missionary work so that was what I chose to do during my dioconate ministry in Madya Pradesh, North India. I learned local languages to do my ministry. I like travelling and reading, and also hard labour.
This is a great opportunity for me to do mission work in the United States. I will be imparting the love of Jesus which I experienced in my life. He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation (Mark 16:15). This is an awesome opportunity to respond to God's call to spread His Love.
